"Together with.... N. our bishop"

Fr. Hamilton answers the liturgical question of how to deal with a Pope's death.

The bishops' conference has a novena booklet you can download and print, and Mass texts for use upon the death of a reigning Pope and the election of a new Pope.

We worshipped today at the church of our vicar forane, an old German monsignor in his 70s. He got a bit flustered at that point in the EP and stuttered on to "John, our bishop", except John became the archbishop of Newark a few years back. He finally settled on "Bishop Jenky", being unable to recall our new bishop's first name at the moment. Despite my clumsy description, it was a touching moment.
