I'm starting to think about what events to attend during summer vacation. Of course, one is easy: the CMAA colloquium in Chicago June 16-22.
Is anything else good going on across the country? Conferences? Courses? Retreats? I'll be driving, so I can connect the dots pretty flexibly. Add your recommendations in the comments!
Too bad it's at the same time, but the International Eucharistic Congress is happening in Quebec City June 15-23. That's going to be a great event, although we're sorry the Holy Father will not attend. We'll miss you, too, RC.
I'm very interested in the Chant Institute at my alma mater, St. Joseph's College in Rensselaer, IN. Fr. Anthony Ruff has been leading it for the past couple of years, and I have not yet had the opportunity to hear him speak. The program, of course, was founded by Fr. Lawrence Heiman -- I attended the institute several times while he was teachinig it. Both priests use the Graduale Triplex as the principal text, which means you're going get some non-Mocquereau interpretation ideas. (Don't tell the folks at NLM!) Unfortunately, it looks like I once again cannot make it to the chant institute. And I'd say there's only a 50% chance I'll make it to the CMAA colloquium -- I suspect I won't know about that until after Easter.
The link to the chant institute is http://www.saintjoe.edu/~dept51/chant.htm
Thanks, Michael: that sounds worth investigating!
