I'm surprised they didn't mention that Fr. Balasuriya was reconciled. Oh, well, it's the secular press.

There are other interesting cases: Abp. Joseph Rummel's excommunications of certain politicians in Louisiana who tried to block his desegregation of the parochial schools (some were reconciled); Fr. Leonard Feeney was excommunicated for disobedience during his dispute about extra ecclesiam (he was later reconciled).
