My wake-up call

A JW named Dorothy called me this morning to tell me helpfully that Christmas was based on Mithra-worship (not to be confused with the veneration of Mothra), that "Cornelius" (she meant Constantine) who had a vision of the Cross and conquered under that symbol never became a Christian (not quite correct there), and the holiday is based on the Saturnalia. Ho hum. I chatted with her a while, so she'd know I'd heard it all before, and gave her 1 Tim 3:15 to look up: "the Church of the living God, which is the pillar and ground of the truth".

Is this what they do now when they can't get into the building?

I don't mind it when the Witnesses show up at our house. They're usually an older black couple, invariably polite and never pushy, and they always seem to genuinely like our kids. Of course, their theology is sheer ahistorical nonsense, but at least they're concerned with more than money or status, which is the norm around here.

They don't seem to know about their ancestor Arius, do they?

Worship of Mothra has an advantage over Mithra because you get those tiny twin Japanese girls to sing at the liturgy.

(note: there's a sushi chef in Boston named Hiro. He's Hawaiian and Japanese. He used to work at Jae's near C-town/Bay Village. He told me his mom went to school w/ the twins. They were pop stars at the time they were in the movie.)

First, they switch to phone calls
Soon, they will outsource their call center to India.

Witnesses have used telephone witnessing for years. It's an alternative for those who may have trouble walking to the doors or may be used to reach those in buildings and such. We (I'm a Witness) also write letters.

Just keep in mind that we're regular people, it's no easier for us to approach strangers than it would be for anyone else. But, we do it because we really do care about others.
