It's news in the same way that the discovery that water is wet is news.
The real news (and what has been little reported) is that the exit polls which were totally screwed up in 2000 and 2002 and were re-vamped by the news media in 2004 were again totally screwed up.
The fact of the matter is that there is no polling organization that can guarantee exit polling anymore. The protocols and selection criteria are known so far in advance that the opportunities for distortion of these results leads one to discount them totally.
Unfortunately, this is a non-story as far as the media are concerned. They cannot admit to the possibility of being complicit in shenanigans such as this.
