Encyclopedia of Catholic Art and Symbols

Help a brother out here. I'm looking for an Encyclopedia of Catholic Symbols in general and information about dominican symbols specificially: the Dominican Shield, the habit, and the Dominican Cross.

Please help me out in the comments or over email! Thanks a million!

It's pretty feeble. Most of them are.

I've never read anything useful about the shield. What is it you mean about the habit?

Most of the heraldry of orders you see nowadays is pretty late (19th century antiquarianism, in the main) rather than having much authentic link to the origins of orders.

Cranky Prof! Good to hear from you!

I figure the colors of the early habit had some significance. Am I mistaken?

No comments, but chock full of OP art and icons:
