Ugh! I didn't need that reminder! Christmas would be great if it was just a celebration of Jesus' birth, with tasteful decorations, fellowship with family and friends, and religious observances for Advent and the actual Christmas season.
The craze of shopping, the irritating Christmas songs ("Grandma Got Run Over By A Reindeer" comes to mind), and the crass commercialization of the season that marginalizes Christ just stress me out.
Our priest won't let us put up a tree or house lights until Dec 24th. If he gets your Christmas card before then, Katie bar the door! Everyone teases him and says that's why he's never invited to Christmas parties. He isn't trying to be a Scrooge. He's just anal about the TRUE 12 Days of Christmas.

That's why I like the idea of giving your gifts on Dec. 6 (the European custom). Get the cards done by then too.
46 days? Did they move Christmas up 10 days?
Sundays aren't shopping days, are they? :-)
