A modest proposal – washtimes

An 11-year-old girl gets sick of Nordstrom selling only clothes fit for prostitots. She writes a letter that finds it’s way to the President’s desk. He decides to begin carrying more conservative clothing for this age group; “that it’s important to maintain a balance and selection.” Gosh, I think it’s important not to make 11-year-olds look like tramps!

  1. Good for her! A couple of years ago a strongly-Catholic friend of mine in the Midwest talked of shopping for clothes with her teenage daughter. The daughter brought her modest and tasteful selections to the cashier. The cashier paused, looked at my friend, and said, “She’s homeschooled, isn’t she?”
It’s the Baby-Boomer parents who are buying these trampy clothes for their 11-year-olds. They are to blame, in my view. They let their kids watch lots of Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera, etc., and don’t teach them about proper modesty. Should anyone be surprised when the kids want clothes out of a red-light district? Should anyone be surprised when stores stock such clothes?
