New post

Nobody has posted anything for days. So I’m posting this. Anyone have anything substantive to say?

  1. Good question, but how does that impact the latest developments in the Terri Schiavo case, and the questions it raises about the legitimacy of the current Supreme Court?

  2. What’s the difference between BSD and, say, GNU? I don’t keep up with such things.
It’s funny that you bring up Franco — I saw a 1,000-page book on him several years ago, and thought, “I’d read a 20-page bio on Franco, but not that.”

  3. “as long as both the Cathedral and the Bazzar are bundled with the State and are not outside of the State nor against the State, both are permissible”

  4. I just saw Mel Gibson’s Man Without a Face. It’s great – an engrossing moview with a powerful cultural critique.
    I think it’s been ignored.

  5. speaking of Franco, and long-lived heads of state – the current contenders for longest reigning heads of state are: King Rana IX (a.ka. Buhimbol) of Thailand(June 9, 1946); Prince Ranier of Monaco (May 10, 1949); Elizabeth II (a.k.a. Betty Windsor, a.k.a. Mrs. Mountbatten) (June 2, 1953); and Fidel Castro (January 1, 1959).
Bets on who’s going to last the longest?

In a nutshell: Derivatives of BSD-licensed software can be closed source. Derivatives of GPL software can’t. That’s one of the reasons why Apple used a derivative of BSD, and not Linux, as the core of OS X.

    Puzzled,
    Awesome. You get extra credit.

  7. Victor,
Tell that to the frozen corpse sitting somewhere in the sub-basements of Langley. If you don’t believe me, I’m sure Eric could get you some pictures.

  8. That’s what The Establishment and The Man want you to think. You’re far too innocent and trusting of The Powers That Be. How much are they paying you to spread their Party Line? Did you know that every newspaper that reported Elvis’ so-called “death” is owned by a member of the capitalist class. Think about it bud.

Not true. Tass reported Elvis’s death too, I believe. Besides, the idea that Elvis is still alive was put out by the government to cover up the real story: that he was assassinated by the CIA (who don’t do that sort of thing any longer, or else I’m sure Eric wouldn’t be willing to work for them) because he was about to debut a new song co-written by Noam Chomsky revealing that President Carter was a war criminal.
