200 words? That’s more than most Marines can understand!
This made me laugh. Our dog jumper has quite a vocabulary. We did have to learn to spell some words that it was obvious she knew. She knew when we were spelling though. She got all up-eared when she heard b-i-s-c-u-i-t or b-o-n-e. We don’t think she could tell them apart….but she knew something good was in the offing. She even has four-letter words in her vocabulary, like: b-a-t-h and w-a-l-k. And she could even tell when we were disguising expressions, like “fog dude” for “dog food”. You just could not fool her….for long, anyway. :o)
You know, as embarrassing as it is to admit, the occasional expletive will slip out when I’m working on some project or another. When that happens, our dog gets frightened; depending on the ferocity of the outburst, she may even go and hide. Apparently in her previous home, words like those were a precursor to something worse, like maybe violence or an argument.
To be honest, that little dog has done more to help me curb my swearing than anything else!
BTW, she also knows the words “Frisbee,” “play” and “breaky” (babytalk for ‘breakfast’). She goes pointy-eared for any of the above.

Has anyone told Gary Larson? Maybe “Ginger” understands more than her name!
