Dozo yoroshiku

The other day I wrote about a fellow who made a sort of job out of performing religious acts; here’s another case and one that’s more obviously mercenary: western laymen dressing up as priests and conducting weddings for non-Christians in Japan.
Come to think of it, there’s probably a market for such services here too.

  1. I have an academic article somewhere about an American Jewish man who performed weddings as a “priest” in Japan. It’s pretty interesting.
    To be fair, the “priests” and “church” are often window dressing for the wedding. Unfortunately, that’s relatively common here in the states as well, even if they use real priests and churches.
