I had a choir member fall asleep in her chair last night. We were rehearsing Copland’s “At the River.” She didn’t fall over, just had her chin down for a two-minute cat nap.

How surprising is that?
I have to admit that I sometimes fall asleep during folk masses or certain homilies, but that may be a defense mechanism.
Do you fall asleep while playing the guitar or giving the homily? That’s what surprised me. I’m sure people have slept thru listening to my choir, not from singing in it.
Personally, I’d have to hear the piece. But there might be a lesson here somewhere.
