I think most people would be excited about a Bishop’s fidelity to the Magisterium. Wouldn’t you?

I live in Bishop Finn territory! Mark my word, when he moves up from co-adjutor to Bishop, vocations will increase, our diocesean newspaper, which is one of the few to carry Fr. Richard McBrien’s column will improve (he cleaned it up in St Louis) and a host of other good things will happen. You are absolutely right that we are excited.
You misquote. I don’t say this. The Kansas City Star says this.
I said some people are nervous.
I don’t think this is a bad thing.
Please correct the false impression you give of where I might stand.
Sorry for the confusion, Bill – I didn’t mean to imply you weren’t supportive of Bishop Finn. Forgive me!
Forgiven.

Since when?
Maybe most orthodox Catholics!
This is just an addendum but I didn’t ever get the idea from reading the link to Bill or from Sal that Bill thought it was a bad thing. Being in his dioceses I know where the ill wind is coming from and it is not ggod Catholic bloggers. By the way, Bishop Finn will be at the pro-life march on my parish bus. RC’s remark is interesting and I couldn’t tell you where the vast majority of people stand but I think that he is probably sadly right. On the other hand, the Kansas City Star did not go out of it’s way to seek someone with a favorable view of Finn. That’s typical of them.
