Ok… so it’s an eco-terrorist.
Still – this is a bit amusing:
In another e-mail, [suspect] Cottrell tried to recruit his fellow Caltech students to pose as runners and plaster 1,000 bumper stickers that read “My SUV supports terrorism” on vehicles in the Los Angeles area. But when the bumper stickers arrived, “terrorism” had been misspelled. The plan was abandoned.

I have a bumper sticker that a friend bought me that says, “The ink of a scholar is more holier than the blood of a martyr.”
He bought it at a Muslim book store in Brooklyn. He said the guys started giving the eye after having bought four or five for friends.
That explains why Jesus chose so many scholars to be his apostles.
Eric,
Jayson said his friend bought it at a Muslim book store. Think about what “Martyr” means to Muslims, at least the more radical variety.
I’m still failing to see the joke.
As to the joke: “The ink of a scholar is more holier than the blood of a martyr.”
Regarding the message, true it is false from the Christian point of view. But in the Muslim context, martyr=suicide bomber. I think that was the bumper sticker’s message: it is holier to be a scholar than to blow yourself up killing the infidel.
Salaam (peace)
I am a Muslim and I just wanted to clarify a misconception made by some on this site, for the benefit of all…
The hadith (saying) of the Prophet (may the peace and blessings of God be upon him) “The ink of a scholar is holier than the blood of a martyr” means quite different than what you understand. The Prophet was emphasizing the importance of gaining knowledge. In another hadith, the Prophet was speaking to someone after the Battle of Uhud was over, and he said “Now we are returning from the lesser Jihad to the greater Jihad” … that is, the Muslims were leaving the battlefield where they fought oppression (and when you are being oppressed and are at war, you really have no choice but to fight or die, that is not to say that fighting is easy, but that it is easier than [read on]..) but when they return to their homes, they will face the greater Jihad (jihad = struggle, you know, that word most of you think means ‘suicide bombing’ and killing innocent civilians), the greater struggle.. the struggle of life.
In my religion, Islam, we aren’t allowed to be opressed. When we are, we must find a means to rise from this opression.. if peaceful means don’t work, then we aren’t supposed to sit around and let people push us around (suppress us economically, kill, maim, and rape our people, etc.). This is an order from God, to not stand opression. God loves those who fight for justice, and therefore, the blood of a martyr is holy.. the fact that the Prophet used this comparison of the blood of a martyr and the ink of a scholar just emphasizes the importance of knowledge.
and in the Muslim or Islamic context, martyr = someone who dies fighting for the cause of Islam. If that video of the beheading of the American by those Muslims was true, they didn’t do something right, and they are just using Islam as an excuse for a wrong act they committed. Similarly, whoever bombed the twin towers, and called themselves suicide bombers in the name of Islam were wrong.. killing innocent civilians is not Islamic at all.
If you have any questions regarding this or anything else about Islam, feel free to ask.
I am just sharing this knowledge because these misconceptions lead to growing hatred.
Peace unto you my brothers and sisters.
