Oops, your roman numerals are multiplying…
If anyone starts in on the “Ratzinger was a Hitler Youth” diatribe, see the full story & context here
I’m blogging this and other “Ratzinger apologetics” so I can get my hands quickly on refutations of the smears that I expect will start in earnest tomorrow. :-(
Smear #2: “In a document in 2000, he branded other Christian churches as deficient — shocking Anglicans, Lutherans and other Protestants in ecumenical dialogue with Rome for years.”
…repeating a half-millenium of Catholic teaching.
I think a lot of Western theology professors just soiled themselves today.

I can guarantee you they have. Unfortunately, the Department of Theology here at Notre Dame is stacked with all variety of malcontents… a degree in Theology from ND is, it pains me to say, a degree in Baloney. That’s why I was brimming with glee as I walked through the halls today seeing the dolorous expressions on the faces of all the avant-garde professor-priests and the joyous ones on the orthodox ones. Indeed, most of the uber-heterodox priests are in fact here in exile, having fled their home dioceses. They are not representative of the Congregation of Holy Cross, to which the University is entrusted.
We are surely at the dawn of a Renaissance in the Church.
Long live Benedict XVI!!!
First: I got excited and typed too many roman numerals.
Second, can you spell: MANDATUM??? I have a feeling there’s going to be some theology professors scrambling to get on the lifeboats…
dome, thanks for the on-the-scene report! I heard from many friends that the philosophy department at ND is more sound, or at least it was a decade ago.
