Episcopalians face divisive issue of gays at convention
MINNEAPOLIS, Minnesota (AP) — No one said a thing during the Episcopal service when two men wearing earrings and full liturgical dress kissed each other on the mouth while other worshippers exchanged less personal greetings.

Doesn’t that image under “Gays hit back at Vatican” sum it all up? Of course, a Christian who understands the history of the Church would never stand up in the Vatican in protest of the latest statements. It’s not like there is anything revolutionary in terms of Christian thought contained in the release. So it only follows suit that Athiests and people operating under anti-intellectual guises like Andrew Sullivan as of late would stand up to protest.
My heartfelt prayers go out to the Episcopalians; this cannot be an easy time for them.
As to the “Gays hit back at the Vatican”, well, did we really expect anything different? This battle will be a long time in the fighting.
I keep saying over and over and over again – the gates of hell shall not prevail ….. the gates of hell shall not prevail …..
Call me naive, but I still believe that good always triumphs over evil, though it sometimes takes time. The Episcopal Church is in crisis, and my prayers are with them. One thing working against them are that their roots are not as strong or deep as those of the Catholic Church, and I think a schism is possible. A very different Episcopal Church could be emerging soon, though the “rogue” elements, should they break away, will wither in time. As far as Flynt and Traficant, they’ve got a better chance of seeing God shopping at Target than getting taken seriously, much less elected. While it seems there is no shortage of attention-getting, truly whacko candidates running for public office in American politics, did you ever notice that a very tiny percentage of them ever get elected?
Satan tries, but usually fails. They are even renumbering Route 666 in New Mexico to some another number. He can’t win.
Satan’s Big Week–has a ring to it rather like PeeWee’s big adventure. He thought his biggest week ever was the week we commemorate as Holy Week, and look how that turned out for him.
Nice comment, Denise! I like that.
Traficant is a case.
Wouldn’t it be interesting if this guy is the only pro-life Democrat in the race? I dont know what his position on abortion is but he is a maverick as well as a criminal and a buffoon.
Why are people so sorry for the Anglicans? Let ’em split and more of them will see the error of their faith and come home.

It’s rather presumptious to assume that the Anglicans who split over the election of homosexual bishops will return to the Church. On his blog, Mark Shea quoted from a letter from a bishop in Africa; judging from the tone of the letter (“intrinsicly imperial”,”dominating cultural role”, and so on), I wouldn’t assume that any break-aways from what they see as a imperialist takeover of their church would be so ready to join what is widely regarded as an imperialist Church. A loss for the Anglicans/Episcopalians is not necessarily a gain for Catholicism.
