Chirac: Divisive Jobs Law to Be Modified

PARIS - President Jacques Chirac said Friday he would press ahead with a contentious labor law making it easier to fire workers, but he offered some concessions in hopes of calming furious protests that led to nationwide strikes.

Nope it's not a surrender but a prudent compromise. The bosses union pointed out that 2 years was far too long to try out a new employee and preferred to have 1 year. Strikes me as reasonable given th French conditions since here in Quebec it's 2 weeks.
As for providing a reason, I wasn't too happy but then again it'll allow employeers to tell the fired workers that their skill sets suck and it,s time to update them up
